Have you heard of Aiguèze?

Perched on a cliff overlooking the Gorges de l’Ardèche, Aiguèze is a medieval village steeped in timeless charm. With its fortified church, remnants of ramparts, and imposing keep, it stands as a remarkable witness to the defensive architecture of bygone times. Its cobbled streets wind their way between stone houses, shaded squares and artisan shops.

Did you know?

Aiguèze takes its name from the Latin “Aquaeza”, in reference to the abundant waters surrounding the village. It was once a strategic site for monitoring passage along the River Ardèche. The village's fortifications, built during the Hundred Years' War, bear witness to its defensive past and have withstood the centuries, preserving their authentic charm.

What's on the programme?

Stroll through the cobbled streets to admire the stone façades, the Church of Saint-Roch and the remains of the medieval castle. From the ramparts, take in sweeping views of the Gorges de l’Ardèche and the Provençal landscapes stretching as far as the eye can see. The surrounding area offers a wealth of activities, from hiking in the heart of the gorges and canoeing down the Ardèche, to leisurely walks through the vineyards of the Côtes-du-Rhône. Be sure to sample the Provençal flavours and the local wines to complete your discovery of Aiguèze.

Let yourself be charmed by the timeless allure of Aiguèze, where heritage, nature, and exceptional landscapes come together!
