Cherbourg's natural harbour, the largest of its kind in the world, has always been a favourite port for sailors. The quaysides of the port of Cherbourg are still steeped in the atmosphere of the great ships which used to leave from here to cross the Atlantic. Nowadays, the Cité de la Mer, a museum given over to underwater exploration, and the fishing museum, which is housed inside a former trawler, hark back to this epic time.

And we can't talk about Cherbourg without mentioning its beaches, which are perfect for families to enjoy the seaside. The beaches of la Saline, Querqueville and la Plage verte are ideal places from which to enjoy Cherbourg's exceptional coastline.
