Did you know?

The iconic Fort Boyard, a symbol of Charente-Maritime, was never actually used as a military fortress! Built in the 19th century to protect the Rochefort arsenal, it stood unused for decades before becoming famous as the setting for the TV game show of the same name. A spectacular second life for this offshore monument!

What to do in Charente-Maritime?

From your Yelloh! Village residence on the Île de Ré, enjoy a stunning setting between the ocean, marshes, and typical villages. This island starting point lets you easily explore all of Charente-Maritime – from the coastline to the mainland, and across to the surrounding islands.

Begin with a stroll around the port of Saint-Martin-de-Ré, a visit to the Phare des Baleines, or a relaxing moment on the island’s beaches. Then spend a day in La Rochelle exploring its famous harbour towers, or visit the historic centre of Rochefort and the frigate Hermione.

Nature lovers can head to the Brouage marshes, the Marennes oyster farms, or the expansive beaches of Royan and Châtelaillon-Plage. You can even get up close to the legendary Fort Boyard on a boat cruise.
