Exploring the vineyards and the local cuisine
The Languedoc-Roussillon region offers a multitude of grape varieties in the Corbières, Minervoix, Fitou, Clape and the Aude vineyards, home to quality wines. You will, of course, be able to sample them in several famous Domaines in the area by taking the "Wine Route": Ollieux Romanis , Sarrat de Goundy , Capitoul ... Kilometres of vineyards occupy the mountains and their valleys, bringing a touch of green to this vast expanse of barren land.
In addition, local growers will offer you local produce to enjoy at markets held throughout the summer. Make the last stop on your discovery trip at a Michelin-star restaurant: the Auberge du Vieux Puit will delight your tastebuds!
Here, you will also find villages full of character: from the Gruissan and the Clape fishing villages, with their traditional houses, to the village of Minerve, (classed as one of the most beautiful villages in France) or the village of Saumaille, the length of the Canal du Midi with its artisans, you will take away a wealth of souvenirs and photographs!
The Narbonnais lagoons
Don't forget to visit one of the many surrounding lagoons; these protected areas contain exceptional fauna: here you can watch the birds, try different shell-fish and go fishing! The fishing villages that border the lagoons breathe the authenticity and gentle pace of the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Taking a stroll, walking and exploring the local cuisine are a must here.
