You're in the heart of the Vosges Massif, France's third most wooded Departement and ideal for sporting excursions or simply admiring the view. This is an area of choice for walking, horse-riding or mountain-bike trails, not to mention the fishing and all the snow sports in the winter. Lakes, green valleys, and high forests provide a plethora of walks that you can plan as a family.
A relaxing itinerary for exploring the mineral waters of Vittel, Contrexéville, Bains-les-Bains and Plombières-les-Bains. Beneficial springs in the heart of lush countryside, for a thermal cure, or for recharging one's batteries, relaxing, or getting away from it all... This is what four active thermal resorts have to offer.
The Ballon des Vosges regional nature reserve has one of the finest reputations for the quality of its air. At the southernmost tip of the massif, it reaches a height of 1,247 metres, thereby offering a superb panorama: the Black Forest to the east, the chain of the Bernese Alps to the south looking towards Mont Blanc, which can sometimes be seen on a clear day, and the Vosges peaks to the north. For its unspoilt beauty and its cultural wealth, the Ballon des Vosges has been listed as a major national site.
In the Vosges, land of festivity, leisure, and history, any opportunity is a good excuse to make a splash, whether it's a folk tradition, a local-produce promotion, or a musical or sporting event. Treat yourself to all the gourmet delights: the Munster cheese and the Vosges bonbons, not forgetting the authentic Quiche Lorraine!
This is one of the most beautiful itineraries of the "blue line of the Vosges", covering over 70 kilometres along the Vosges summits and over the territory of the chamois, which, from the bend of a footpath, can be spotted darting over the mountainside. The route des lacs (lake route) is an unforgettable circuit for seeing the heart of the Vosges mountains and listening to its heartbeat.
Proud of its hard-won independence, in association with the "4 nations": Lorraine, Alsace, Bourgogne/Franche-Comté, and Champagne, Epinal has been particularly outstanding for its trading in faience, paper, linens and sheets and especially in the development of imagery, which nowadays transcends time and frontiers. Not to be missed: its English-style park and the remains of its medieval chateau.
With its delightful "villages of dolls" Riquewihr, Barr, and Obernaï, and Colmar with its pretty half-timbered houses, the Alsac is not far away. Come and explore our beautiful lush vineyard as you wend your way to and fro along the wine route: Riesling, Pinot Gris (Pinot Grigio) and Gewurztraminer... And on your dinner plate: sauerkraut, kugelhopf, and a succession of delicious pastries. Don't forget to look up your head, as one of our beautiful storks will certainly pass that way.
