Longues-sur-Mer Battery

A visit to the Longues-sur-Mer battery transports you back in time to the Normandy landings at the heart of the Atlantic Wall.

Zoom on the Longues-sur-Mer battery

Today still, the Normandy Landing Beaches bear reminders of the fierce battles fought there from 6 June 1944 onwards. The Allies managed to land on the Calvados coast despite its defence by a huge Atlantic Wall erected by Nazi Germany. This defensive structure has almost completely disappeared but some strongholds still remain. This is the case of the Longues-sur-Mer battery which is still in a remarkably good state of conservation.
