Sant Joan in Minorca

Staying on the island of Minorca during your holiday? Then don’t miss the fabulous festival to celebrate Sant Joan. 3 days of festivities, discoveries and conviviality are yours to enjoy from 22 to 24 June (around the midsummer solstice). This festival in honour of Sant Joan has become a veritable institution in the Balearic Islands and even more so in the town of Ciutadella, on the island of Minorca.

 

Sant Joan in Catalonia

Catalonia also has its own Sant Joan festivities. Notably the Sant Joan bonfire, a typically Catalan tradition. The evening’s celebrations are held once a year on 24 June to coincide with the summer solstice. The Canigou Flame is the symbol of Sant Joan in Catalonia, seen as sending a veritable message of brotherhood and love.
