The International Rose Days in Doué-la-Fontaine

Book your ticket to discover the International Rose Days in Doué-la-Fontaine from 11th to 14th july 2024. A town not only famous for its roses but also for its subterranean passageways and troglodyte houses. Originally created as stone was quarried underground over the centuries, once a year the subterranean galleries below the arenas are brought to life with thousands of natural rose flowers. The town of Doué-la-Fontaine is today considered the most important European centre for the production of rose bushes.

Each year, during the Journées Internationales de la Rose, flowers take over the town and visitors have an opportunity to enjoy a range of different activities. The best-known is the exhibition of thousands of garden roses, a fabulous visit to enjoy with all the family. There are also two international competitions including the floral art competition, based on a different theme each year. With the teams from the schools of floral art putting all their skill and imagination into winning, the resulting displays are simply breathtaking. The second competition is for the most beautiful garden rose, amongst the many presented by the local nurseries, with the visitors invited to vote for their favourite. So come and join in these and other activities for a day filled with perfume and colour. You can even eat on-site.
