While padel and tennis share some similarities, several key features set them apart:

• Padel is played on a smaller court enclosed by glass walls, which influence gameplay, whereas tennis is played in an open space.
• Padel rackets are smaller and perforated, offering a different kind of ball control. Padel serves are easier – you serve underarm, making the game more accessible to beginners.
• The points system is the same as tennis, with games, sets and victory in two winning sets. However, the glass walls and the faster rallies create a very different strategic approach.
• Padel is exclusively played in doubles, making it a fast-paced and sociable sport.

Take note: Some destinations are also excellent spots for a different kind of “paddle”, used for “stand-up paddleboarding” – similar-sounding names but very distinct sports!
