"We have preserved the original spirit" – Alfacs

From its beginnings with Carmen to its present-day development under the guidance of her son Mario, Yelloh! Village Alfacs has evolved considerably. Discover the story of one of Spain’s oldest campsites.

A journey-born adventure

In the 1950s, Carmen Masià travelled across Europe for her studies. In Germany, she discovered a joyful, emerging form of tourism that brought cultures together. She realised that her native land could also become a welcoming place, simple and warm.

In 1958, back on the shores of the Bay of Alfacs, she created a small family campsite. Few facilities, but one strong idea: to welcome guests with heart, and offer holidays that bring people closer together.

Sunday paellas for everyone, national anthems, fishing competitions, entire days spent on the bay… Families from all over Europe created their most cherished memories here.

A campsite that has evolved without losing its identity

Today, her son Mario continues the adventure. Alfacs has grown: a renowned restaurant, a crescent-shaped swimming pool, award-winning sustainability initiatives, and soon a wellness area by the sea. But the essentials remain unchanged: “Guests have witnessed the campsite’s evolution: better services, more activities, the arrival of a swimming pool and sports facilities… and above all, increasingly high-quality accommodation. Yet we have preserved the original spirit, the camper’s spirit. Friendliness and personal contact will always remain in Alfacs’ DNA”.

More than a vision, Mario has nurtured a philosophy passed down from generation to generation. One that explains why some guests have been returning for decades. At Alfacs, happiness is built over time — through shared summers, loyal encounters and the same sincere desire to welcome.
