On holiday in the Vendée? Take time to explore the delightful village of Saint-Julien-des-Landes and its surroundings. You’ll love it!

Do you know Saint-Julien-des-Landes?

Located in the Vendée, just 25 km from La Roche-sur-Yon, the lovely village of Saint-Julien-des-Landes is the ideal holiday destination. You’ll be won over by its perfect setting near the Atlantic coast, in the peace and quiet of the Vendée.

Stroll around the village centre and admire the impressive neo-Gothic style church built in the 1850s. Look up and see if you can spot Saint Julian’s statue in the bell tower, the village’s emblem. The multitude of tiny chapels are also worth a look, especially for their many captivating stained-glass windows.

Head out of the centre and set off to see Château de Brandeau or Château de la Garangeoire. These castles are closely entwined with the village’s history, representing its former fiefdoms.

What to see and do

Not far from the seaside resorts of Les Sables-d’Olonne and Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, there is plenty to see and do with family or friends.

North of Saint-Julien-des-Landes, there is the River Jaunay, which widens out to form Lake Jaunay, the ideal starting point for a hike to discover the fauna and flora.

Enjoy fishing? Then the lake is the perfect spot – a real haven of peace just waiting for you!

Or are watersports more your thing? La Baudrière leisure park sits just beside the lake. There you can hire a canoe and set off with the family to explore the surroundings.

Perhaps you’re more of a thrill-seeker? Head to Le Grand Défi outdoor amusement park and embark on a treetop trail with family or friends! What better way to create memories that you’ll treasure forever?

And that’s not all: there are numerous pathways linking the village to the Atlantic coast. Set off on foot, horseback or bicycle.

So, are you ready?
