Discover the mediaeval town of Sévérac-le-Château perched high in the heart of the Aveyron department. The famous Butte de Sévérac that rises 817 metres above sea level is the site of an important feudal treasure: its imposing castle. Building on the mediaeval fortress started in the 10th century and each of its many owners thereafter built extensions. The Sévérac, Armagnac and Arpajon families each contributed to the beauty of this historic monument.

The southern façade of the castle, its ramparts, moats, drawbridges, its lookout towers and its two fortified gates that resisted the French Revolution enclose the town of Sévérac-le-Château. This is your opportunity to travel through the centuries as you walk along the cobbled streets with former mediaeval shops and half-timbered houses and discover the mysteries of this fascinating town.
