Camping Sant Martí d'Empúries

During your holiday on the Costa Brava, you’d like to discover some of the region’s most unmissable villages? Then take a trip to Sant Martí d'Empúries, a small mediaeval village near Figueres.

Do you know Sant Martí d'Empúries?

Lying on the Costa Brava, between Roses and L’Escala, and only a few kilometres from the town of Figueres, this little village steeped in mediaeval character is definitely worth a detour during your holiday on the Gulf of Roses. You can then continue to L’Escala along the Paseo d’Empúries, an attractive shady pathway. This authentic village has retained all the marks of its history. Once inside its impressive walls, it’s time to explore its innumerable monuments and picturesque corners, each offering so much to surprise and delight. Its little something extra: its breathtaking view over the Mediterranean Sea, creeks and beaches, the refreshing cool of its stonework in the height of summer, and its Catalan ambiance.

On your programme?

As you stroll through the town, head off to discover the many architectural and mediaeval wonders that line the narrow cobbled streets. Your steps will soon take you to the village’s main square where you won’t be able to miss the Gothic style church of Sant Martí, built in 1538.

On the same square, you’ll also be able to see the remains of the ancient castle, dating from the 13th and 14th centuries. Ruins that will whisk you back to a very different time.

As you stroll through the maze of picturesque streets, keep an eye out for the Casa Forestal. This contemporary-looking tower, with its Art Deco style, is in every way a total contrast to the mediaeval atmosphere that makes up most of this magnificent traditional village on the Costa Brava. And it also offers a sublime view over Roses and the Cap de Creus.

So, what are you waiting for to head off and explore this charming village?
