On foot or by bike, Oléron is there to be discovered, and you'll find some really beautiful scenery there. It has exceptional beaches bordering the ocean, with pine and ilex forests as well as marshland, which is often used for grazing herds of sheep. The island also has plenty of historical and architectural interest, which you'll find in its authentic villages.
You can also get to Oléron by train: the quaint P'tit Train de Saint Trojan runs round a 6 kilometre track. It's a novel way of discovering the island, with its dunes and forests etc.
