Port De Plaisance: near the village

6 good reasons to visit our region

1. Bénodet

Located on the mouth of the Odet, "the prettiest river in France", Bénodet is the gateway to the Atlantic. Its three fine sandy beaches and its marina and thalassotherapy make it a renowned seaside resort. Come here and discover its maritime traditions, and share our love of the sea. Sheltered from the wind, the bay is a highly-regarded port of call in southern Brittany, drawing generations of holidaymakers who come back year after year.

2. The Breton heritage

Bénodet represents the old Brittany: picture-postcard villages that hug the Cornouaille skyline. As you wend your way through villages and along lanes, our history with its long-ago legends is revealed to you through our ancient architecture. Come and share our festive spirit and our renowned gastronomy. Fest-Noz, costume parades and pardons fill the calendar and draw you into the innermost soul of this region.

3. As many leisure activities as you can manage

Sailing, kayaking, tennis, horse riding, hiking... Sports enthusiasts of any age will have a whale of a time. Swimming in the sea or naturism, escape and relaxation, Bénodet makes you want to try everything. During the summer in Bénodet, come to its numerous concerts and entertainments.

4. Excursions to the Glénan archipelago

Just off the seaside resort of Bénodet there lies the Glénan archipelago, bringing to mind a tropical atoll with its crystal clear blue-green water. The shallowness of the water and the very pale sand produces this colour, reminiscent of the Pacific. The islands of Penfret, Drennec, Loch and Saint-Nicolas are some of the main islands of the archipelago, with only the island of Saint-Nicolas being accessible to the public at large. Cruises depart from Bénodet. An important bird sanctuary and nature reserve, this archipelago has become a water-sports paradise, a place to learn and practise sailing and sub-aqua diving. Come here and hobnob with the great sailors of today...

5. Thalassotherapy

Make the most of all the sea's abundant resources! In Bénodet, thalassotherapy combines all the benefits of the sea: its climate, its baths and its seaweed. Under medical supervision, the treatments are given to promote your well-being. Seaweeds and essential oils are used for their natural properties, for the blood circulation, relaxation or slimming. Come and feel rejuvenated at Bénodet.

6. The coast of Cornouaille

Located at the tip of Brittany, in southern Finistère, the coast of Cornouaille comprises the Bigouden area, from Sainte-Marine to the river Odet. From the Pointe du Raz to Pont-Aven there lies a succession of beautiful beaches and authentic fishing ports. Lovers of long stretches of fine sand will be bowled over. Further south, the coast becomes wild towards the Pointe de la Torche, a funboarders' paradise. On the Pointe de Penmarc'h, the giant Eckmühl lighthouse stands guard.
