The wide and majestic River Rhône gave rise to this French department, in which the landscapes are constantly changing and competing with one another in terms of attractiveness.

Come and enjoy a walk in the Beaujolais region, where gentle hillsides, villages made from the local "golden stone" perched on high and vineyards stretching away into the distance will form the backdrop for your hikes. Or how about a stroll along the paths of the Monts du Lyonnais, with its orchards, grassland and wild hillsides!

Your camping holidays in the Rhône will also be an opportunity to try some of the delicious local produce, including the fine wines of the Côtes du Rhône, delicious fruit and cold meats from Lyon! Your children will also be able to see the Guignol shows: this puppet, so typifying Lyon and the local region, has been delighting children and adults for the past 200 years!

 

Camping Rhône

Choosing a camping holiday in the Rhône means enjoying a stay among some unusual towns and regions. Come and see the 2000 year old city of Lyon, formerly the capital of Gaul and now a European metropolis. Make the most of your visit to Lyon by trying some of the region's wonderful dishes in a local restaurant known as a bouchon lyonnais. You'll love walking through the little mediaeval streets of Old Lyon, or climbing up the hill of Fourvière, with its magnificent cathedral.

And for people who prefer nature and the great outdoors, the regional nature reserve of Le Pilat is the place to head for, where you'll be able to enjoy some mountain biking, walking or perhaps try some watersports!

People who enjoy history, heritage and old buildings and monuments will also love it here, with visits to the small towns of Beaulieu and Villefranche, with its passageways known as traboules, as well as discovering the region's Gallo-Roman remains.
