Spotlight on the coves of Menorca

The coves are what make the island’s reputation. They are all so different, in their size and in their setting. In fact, the island has been listed as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO since 1993.

So, your programme?

At Binigaus, set out from one of the most beautiful virgin beaches in Menorca and walk up to Cova des Coloms, a huge natural cave located in the Es Migjorn gully and known as “the cathedral”. Incredibly impressive!

In the southern part of Menorca, the Galdana–Macarella section will lead you through small forests and along cliffs, offering some spectacular viewpoints as you go. Note the stunning contrast between the deep green of the pine trees and the turquoise of the Macarella’s waters.

Do you dream of taking a dip with some of the island’s lighthouses as your backdrop? Opt for Cala Tortuga with its view over Favàritx. This hidden virgin beach is amazingly beautiful! If you like walking, take the Camí de Cavalls trail and admire the stunning scenery on the north coast, with its cliffs, ravines and dark slate.

In the northern part of the island, take shelter at La Vall when the southern winds blow. Make the most of the lovely pine grove to relax and enjoy a siesta in the shade on a fine sandy beach next to the transparent waters of the sea.

At Pregonda, one of the Mediterranean’s gems, discover a cove with crystal-clear waters and red-coloured sand. It is a bit of a walk to get there, but worth the effort as this is definitely a beach not to be missed!

At Cala Rafalet, you’ll find a wild path lined with stones and rocks – take it and set off to discover a cove conjuring up magic and mystery with its crystal-clear, emerald waters.
