Monte Toro, highest point on the island of Menorca.

Monte Toro is the only mountain on the island of Menorca. It rises to an elevation of just 358 metres but offers a panoramic view over the entire island and, when the weather is fine, even as far as the island of Mallorca 40 km away!

Zoom on Monte Toro

El Toro, or Monte Toro, is located in the centre of the island in the municipality of Es Mercadal. At its summit is the sanctuary of La Virgen del Toro, the patron saint of Menorca depicted in a statue carved in wood. Built in 1670 on the remains of a Gothic church, it owes its name to a legend which recounts how a bull (toro in Spanish) helped the monks find the Virgin.
