Camping holidays "Chapelle Notre Dame de la Joie"

"La Chapelle de la Joie" is a must-see during your stay in Penmarch: just beside a calvary, this stone building stands proudly next to the sea behind an embankment. It is like a silent challenge to the elements, as though its stones could withstand the sea's fury!

The soberly decorated interior of this chapel, with its stirring sculptures, reminds us that it was once the richest of its kind in the region.

Built during the 15th century, "la Chapelle de la Joie" is especially significant for sailors, as it was here that they used to celebrate having survived the waves and storms! An important religious festival therefore takes place here on 15th August, featuring singing and dancing. Perhaps you'll be lucky enough to be here for this major event and see the Bigouden costumes. You'll take home some wonderful memories of your visit to "la Chapelle de la Joie"!
