A Tout Vent

During your stay, be sure not to miss the kite festival, one of the season’s highlights at Notre-Dame-de-Monts.

The A Tout Vent festival has been a must-see event at Notre-Dame-de-Monts since 2003. Every year, tens of thousands of spectators make the trip to admire the hundreds of kites that take to the skies here. During the four-day festival, there is an array of fun activities for all ages. The art of kite-flying includes the dragons traditionally flown in many Asian countries.

Among the names present, Ludo Petit, a well-known kite flyer and one of the festival’s guests of honour. He has travelled to the four corners of the world and acquired various techniques from the great masters in Thailand, Japan and India. He’ll be presenting his giant dragon kites which measure between 50 and 100 metres long. He’ll be joined by a whole host of enthusiastic hobbyists and kite creators, coming together to share their passion across a range of categories, as kites with 2-line and 4-line control, Rokkaku Japanese fighting kites and single-line kites all take to the sky for an enchanting aerial ballet.

The guests of honour also include the company Kite lab, which creates kites that users can customise to adapt the colour, size and shape any way they please. Then there is Kosmodul'Air, an association that offers traditional kite models from Asia, Korea, Japan, Brazil and India.

Other activities on offer include an introduction to standup paddleboarding and kayaking for young visitors in a secure pool, and a discovery of the area’s history with “La balade du vent”, or the “Wind Way” walk which lasts around an hour and a half, crossing forest, dunes and beach to finish at the site of Biotopia, a company that aims to raise awareness about the conservation and development of the coastline.

Come along at the beginning of July 2024 for the 21st edition of the festival.
