Discover Villars, also called the “village aux trois merveilles” (village with three wonders) during your holiday in the Périgord. Explore one of the biggest underground networks in the Périgord: the Cave of Villars! With its impressive stalactites and stalagmites as well as its original prehistoric paintings, all the family will be spellbound by the magic of this place. During the school holidays, children will even be able to test their artistic skills on a duplicate cave wall in some special workshops! You can also visit the Abbey of Boschaud that was founded in 1154. This abbey is one of the four Cistercian abbeys in the Périgord. It was destroyed during the wars of religion and partially restored, but it remains an excellent example of Périgord architecture.
During your visit to the commune of Villars, you can also discover the Château de Puyguilhem! During your one-hour visit, you will be able to admire this listed Renaissance Historic Monument that dates back to the beginning of the 16th century and that was restored by the French state in the 20th century. It can hold its own against any of the Loire castles and will transport you back in time!
