This is a spa town in the middle of a forest of fir trees, with a fantastic vineyard, between the Jura hills and lakes; a town in which water is everywhere, provided by its numerous fountains. At an altitude of more than 200 metres, at the foot of the Jura plateau, Lons le Saunier will bring your holiday a bit of wellbeing and getting-away-from-it-all. The entire town is an invitation for relaxation, with its variety of fountains and statues on pretty squares, and with lovely little alleyways, the town centre with its arcades, and the magnificent garden which surrounds the thermal baths and the source of the salt water.

The area surrounding Lons le Saunier really is worth a detour too, with the vineyards of Arbois, deep forests and lakes and the waterfalls in the Parc Naturel Régional du Haut-Jura being wonderful places for hiking.
