Verdon Parc camping: nearby

6 good reasons to visit our region

Whether you come camping or stay in our holiday accommodation at Verdon Parc, you'll be setting off to explore the Verdon regional nature reserve, and discover the laid-back way of life in Provence and the hot-water springs Gréoux-les-Bains. The loveliness of the Haut-Var is boundless. You'll be captivated.

1. The Verdon gorges are a feast for the eyes!

Carving the landscape with their green and limpid water over the centuries, the Gorges du Verdon form Europe's largest canyon! Visiting the ledges and panoramic viewpoints standing over 800 metres above this natural wonder will leave you with unforgettable memories.

2. The charm of the Provence villages

Firmly fixed in Provencal tradition, our villages bear witness to a rich past that reveals itself in the detail of a facade or the porch of a church. Come and explore these sometimes sleepy sights beneath the hot Provence sun, lulled by the singing of the cicadas. Lurs, a tastefully-restored character village, perching on an outcrop that towers above the Durance. The village of Dauphin sits on a hill between the Luberon and the Valensole plateau, overlooking the plain. A listed site comprising beautiful historic remains, it is one of the most beautiful villages in Haute-Provence.

3. The highlight of the Pays de Forcalquier

The sunlit Pays de Forcalquier exudes the harmony of regions long inhabited by man, where signs of very ancient civilisations can be found. Around the Luberon are to be found hillsides of sessile oaks, bluish in the summer and golden in the winter. In the Montagne de Lure, flocks and rivers pass by.

4. Moustiers Sainte-Marie and its beautiful olive trees

From the day you arrive, Moustiers Sainte-Marie reveals itself to the visitor: the singing of the cicadas, heady Provence fragrances, the laid-back way of life, and the multiple lights and colours. In a region where the sun shines 300 days a year, over 20,000 olive trees grow, imbuing the landscape with a verdant or silvery tone. They also produce very characteristic olives that are known for their naturally spicy flavour and are used in the famous restaurants. You'll have the chance to try the local produce at the Provencal market every Friday: cheeses, "huile d'olive de Haute-Provence" AOC olive oil, and biscuits with lavender honey; you'll also be able to discover its lovely faience...

5. Gréoux-les-Bains and its thermal baths

With its waters at 42°C, containing sulphates and magnesium, the healing properties of Gréoux-les-Bains are well established. For gentle relief of your lesser and greater ailments and for a revitalising treatment, come and try the Gréoux thermal baths. On the agenda: zero gravity showers and thermal-mud baths! You'll also be captivated by the charm of the town with its Roman churches and its ramparts.

6. Sainte Croix and Esparron, two lakes to cool you down on the Verdon

Try the refreshing Verdon lakes. Swimming, sailing, windsurfing, pedalo, electric-boat rides, fishing on the Esparron lake, with the well-deserved nickname of "the pearl of the Verdon" - a veritable oasis of cool green!
