Le Panorama camping village: nearby

5 good reasons to visit our region

Coming to Le Panorama du Pyla Yelloh! Village is to embark on an adventure in superb landscapes twixt sea and sky. We invite you to contemplate the beautiful Dune du Pyla - the backdrop to your holiday. The waves have made our coast a compelling meeting place for surfers. Set off on a discovery of this region's wealth of traditions with its bullfighting, bull running, folklore, and gastronomy.

1. The Dune du Pyla

Europe's largest sand dune awaits you a stone's throw from the campsite. With a height of 105m, length of 2,700m, and width of 500m, and 600 million cubic metres of sand, this great national attraction really is worth the detour. Watch out, it continues to grow by a few metres each year! Located at the entrance to the Arcachon Basin, and opposite the Pointe du Cap-Ferret, it affords a unique view over the ocean and the surrounding landscapes: the entry channel (Les Passes) and the pine trees of the Landes. You'll be able to come here and admire the most beautiful sunsets you've ever seen, or fly over it in a paraglider.

2. The Arcachon Basin

Our beautiful Arcachon basin, twixt sea and sky, has managed to preserve its countryside intact; cycle tracks will take you through pine forests and across fine sandy beaches, while boat trips will take you on a discovery of fishing and oyster farming. You'll be able to see oyster cabins, pinasses (traditional flat-bottomed boats), houses on stilts above the water of the Île aux Oiseaux and the nesting place of hundreds of terns.

3. Cap Ferret

The sandy headland at the tip of the Arcachon basin, Cap Ferret is home to a fishing village, where fishermen settled owing to its favourable climate. A listed beauty spot, Cap Ferret has its chic side with villas hidden behind pine trees, and a traditional part with pretty wooden cabins painted in vivid colours. Climb to the top of the lighthouse or take the small train linking the ocean beach to the headland.

4. Our superb coast

In addition to being a surfers' paradise, our coast boasts an abundant wildlife population, with hundreds of bird species and an extremely rich flora inhabiting the Arès-Lège salt meadows. Thanks to the workshops and activities, you'll be able to set off with your family to explore this environment. The Piraillan reservoirs provide observation circuits for watching and listening to the flourishing wildlife. The tip of the Cap Ferret is the place to contemplate the tides, sand dunes, birds, clouds... Your children are going to be bowled over.

5. Wines and gastronomy of the Médoc

You can also go and visit the chateaux of the Bordeaux region or the Médoc. With AOCs that are renowned the world over, including Château Lafitte, Château Margaux, and Château Mouton-Rotschild. The Médoc is a land with a tradition of producing the greatest grape varieties, such as Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot Noir, and Cabernet Franc. Come and sample our fine oysters from the Arcachon basin, as well as the macaroons from Saint-Emilion and the lamb from Pauillac. A feast for your tastebuds...
