Les Mouettes: near the village

5 good reasons to visit our region

Located by the sea, in one of Brittany's most beautiful bays, Les Mouettes Yelloh! Village takes you on a journey. Come and explore the Carantec peninsula and, a little further afield, the Bay of Morlaix, classified as "Pays d'Art et d'Histoire" (region of Art and History). The Pointe Bretagne region abounds with diverse landscapes and heritage. Visit the picturesque towns like Roscoff, Morlaix, and St Pol de Léon, and take in the sea air on the many beaches along our shore.

1. The Bay of Morlaix

A stone's throw from our campsite, 18 kilometres of coastline offers a splendid panorama over the Ile Callot, the Ile Louët and the famous Château du Taureau, a veritable sentinel of the sea for almost 5 centuries. Home to a bird sanctuary, the Bay of Morlaix is also renowned for its delicious oysters. At Carantec, live according to the tides, and fill your lungs with sea air

2. Little ports with character

Come and explore towns of art and history, where loitering is a delight: Morlaix with its half-timbered houses with their lanterns, St Pol de Léon and its cathedral, and Roscoff, the privateer stronghold, full of charm and character. The little fishing ports can be explored on foot or by bike, not forgetting the famous parish enclosures, the chapels... History in our region is engraved in granite and beauty is simply given.

3. The Breton hinterland

After seafaring Brittany, you have the secret Brittany, wilder and more mystical. Explore the landscapes and legends of the Monts d'Arrée, a natural sanctuary. On foot, horseback or mountain bike, follow the paths that crisscross the ridges, moors and peat bogs.

4. The Lighthouse on the Ile de Batz

Strewn with reefs, the Finistère coastline has for a long time been marked by lighthouses to protect the shipping lanes. After a bit of a climb to the top, you'll enjoy an unforgettable panorama. 44 metres high and with its 210 steps, the Ile de Batz lighthouse affords a wonderful view over the Côte Léonarde.

5. The local gastronomy

Carantec is in the heart of the Léonard region, renowned for its artichokes, cauliflowers and early fruit and vegetables. From the sea, the Bay of Morlaix produces excellent oysters, as well as other seafoods such as fish, shellfish... In the local restaurants or strolling around the market in Carantec, you'll discover the local produce. Give in to temptation, and succumb to the gastronomic delights of Brittany!
