Whitewater sports
On the river Ubaye, France’s fourth classified river, enjoy all the gliding sports: rafting, river-boarding, canoeing, kayaking, etc. Organised from the village, at special rates – bus once a week. Can be available on a daily basis.
Water sports on the lake
On the Serre-Ponçon lake – Europe’s largest volume of water – sailing, water skiing, electric boat, boat trip around the lake, and of course bathing on the beaches or in the rocky inlets.
Aerial assault course
Come and try out this adventure trail in the trees, at the Parc des Ecureuils, right next to the village.
Swing, like Tarzan, from one point to another. Or else, cycle the whole length of the rope rigging, 20 metres above the ground! Thrills guaranteed! 3 circuits available, for all ages. Open every day.
Chairlift rides
200 metres from the campsite, take the Plateau chairlift to an altitude of 2,000 m to see the marmots, flowers, the communal flock, the panoramic view, and watch a paraglider taking off, and have a bite to eat at the "Au Coularet" restaurant.
Taking the La chairlift, experience this magical scenic viewpoint with its 360° panorama from the 2,300m-high ridge, go for refreshments at the Dormilleuse fort, at 2,500m, or you can go down the other side towards the high-altitude Col lakes.
Open very day except Mondays in July and August, free for the under-5s. Special card for paragliders and people on mountain bikes.
Paragliding
200 metres from the Village: paragliding school, and introductory flight and courses available.
Montclar is a paragliding mecca. The site, which benefits from a good height differential and an exceptional climate, is much appreciated by clubs. Numerous competitions are organised here. “Ushuaia: The Ultimate Adventure”, the famous TV programme on adventure and nature, was filmed here.
Fishing
Numerous lakes, rivers, and high-altitude lakes are accessible, roughly 1.5 km from the campsite; fishing licences are required.
On the lake of "Le Lauzet sur Ubaye", 10 km away, fishing is free.
Horse riding
You can take lessons at an equestrian farm, 8km from the village, or go hacking and trekking to explore our beautiful valley, a land of contrasts.
Hiking
From our campsite, you can explore numerous hiking trails, either in valleys or along ridges.
The activity leaders will suggest some magnificent walks for you. In Reception, we can lend you route sheets and maps, and you can also book a guided hike at a very good price. You'll be amazed by the diversity and beauty of our unspoilt countryside, and by the stunning views that you will discover from the ridges!
Mountain-bike trails
200 metres from the village, mountain-bike hire, loan of maps, circuits with GPS, or accompanied treks with a ride in a chairlift. Special rates at Reception, upon prior booking.
Grass scootering
200 metres from the campsite, have a go on a grass scooter, with the help of the ski-lift. Once up there, it's downhill all the way!
Cycle touring
500 metres from the village and we’re at the Col St Jean, which is the first of the 7 Alpine passes that you’ll be able to climb (la Bonette-Restefond 2,809 m, Allos, La Cayolle, Vars, and Larche). At each summit, a machine will enable you to record your passage and thus to obtain your certificate of the 7 passes! A real challenge! You will appreciate the cycle-tourism sign-posting on the kilometre markers!
Via Ferrata
50 km away, these are rocky routes, of Italian origin, which are made quite secure by a cable or metal steps. Novices must be accompanied by a guide.
Climbing
30 km away, 100 routes ranging in difficulty from 4 to 8 b, spread throughout the region.
Golf
Barcelonnette golf course, 35 km away: 9 holes, club house, driving range, a 4-km course.
Digne les Bains and Gap golf courses, 45 km away.
Archery
200 m from the campsite, in July and August Introductory lessons twice weekly. Special rates.
Your evening entertainment
During the evenings, we offer a variety of entertainment. You can spend some magical evenings in our beautiful mountains, with the "trapper's meal" over the campfire: grills, potatoes, camembert, bananas with chocolate. Weekly gatherings around the campfire, or "story-telling evenings under the stars", observing the clearest sky in Europe, where mythology mingles with astrology, will take you back your youth. Not forgetting: karaoke, dance nights, cabaret, lotto, board games, billiards, etc... This entertainment is laid on for you six or seven nights per week in the high season, and five times a week in low season.
