To go camping or rent an accommodation at Le Domaine d'Arnauteille Yelloh! Village is to follow in the footsteps of the Cathars on our beautiful Aude countryside. You can't help falling in love with the Aude with all its charms, enchanting scenery, castles and a rich history, as well as the gastronomy and wines that will delight everyone.
The Aude boasts such a variety of scenery and outstanding sites: the walled City of Carcassonne, Cathar castles, abbeys, the Canal du Midi, gorges and defiles, that many a visitor will be staggered. Nestling between the Pyrennes and the Massif Central, and between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, the Aude, Little Southern France with its nine regions, offers up all its treasures. Here, you'll discover many amazing landscapes.
Everyone who stays at Montclar appreciates its tranquillity and the beauty of the location. Perched magnificently, the village enables you to explore a variety of landscapes: the Corbières to the east, and the Pyrenees to the south. Our little secondary road meanders between vineyards, woods and meadows, affording a different panorama at each bend. Located at the heart of the woody Malepère Massif, it is constructed in a circle around its highest point, the Roman church.
The Aude can proudly boast a quantity of terroirs befitting its level of sunshine, and as much sunshine as wines and gastronomic specialities. You're bound to sample a sparkling Blanquette de Limoux with pepper cakes as an aperitif, a cassoulet from Castelnaudary, or a dried magret of duck with a Malepère AOC, a plate of charcuterie from Quillan with a cool Rosé, a goats' cheese, and peaches and apricots from the neighbouring orchards, accompanied by some Limoux nougats.
Carcassonne is Europe's largest medieval walled city and one of the most visited in France. Since Roman times, this has been a veritable fortified city, and in the 12th century noblemen of the Trencavel family, the viscounts of Carcassonne, built a new castle and embellished the walled city. The City comprises 52 towers and two concentric outer walls, totalling three kilometres of ramparts. Don't miss its restored 13th-century castle, the Imaginarium, a veritable voyage to the Middle Ages, the Festival (operas, theatre, concerts) in July, the famous fireworks and conflagration of the ramparts on 14 July, and the Médiévales festival in August.
Relive this fascinating period of western medieval history by visiting the unassailable "Citadelles du Vertige", the final refuges of the last Cathars.
Built on the summit of a 300-m high rocky ridge, the importance of the four Lastours castles stems entirely from the time of the Albigensian Crusade. They controlled the access to the Cabardès region and the Montagne Noire. The castles of Cabaret (the most imposing), la Tour Régine, Surdespine, and Quertinheux proudly dominate the Orbiel river and the Grésilhou torrent. Every Sunday and Thursday in the summer: a Son et Lumière display at the Lastours castles.
